The Society of Austrian Neurooncology (SANO) was introduced at the 11th on February 4th 2011 in Salzburg, Austria.

 

The SANO origins from the Neurooncology Update Meetings, which took place annuallybeginning in the year 2000. At these meetings Austrian physicians, researchers and nurses of all neurooncological disciplines (Neurosurgery, Neurology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pediatric Oncology, Neuropathology, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Psychooncology) regularly discussed advances in the field of Neurooncology.

 

The goals of the SANO are the national organization of interdisciplinary cooperation, the conduct of clinical and translational research projects and the formulation of guidelines for diagnosis and therapyin Neurooncology.

 

The SANO organizes educational meetings and serves as contact for other international societies and patient- and caregiver associations.
